2. Happy Earth Sad Earth Craft

Do you want to teach your children about how to protect and care for the Earth? Then this is an excellent way to do so. You can have this as an Earth Day activity or even as an icebreaker on Earth-relevant lessons.

All you have to do is download and print out two copies of the craft template. Have your child color the template and cut the pieces out. 

Then, add four velcro dots to the Earth — two for the eyes, one for the mouth, and one for the heart/band-aid. Add the other side of the velcro dots at the backside of the templates and stick them together.

Finally, cut out blue or green cardstock as the arms and legs. You can also choose to make only one Earth and the kids can switch up the pieces. Pretty cool, right?

It is a classic but still really fun way to develop your preschoolers’ creativity, concentration, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. All these while also getting to know our precious planet Earth.

To begin, just print the pattern and trace it on the back of a cereal box or a cardstock. Next, take the construction paper or magazines and cut them into small squares. 

Using a glue stick, paste the pieces into your circle. Turn it over and trim off the excess. Finally, use yarn and some beads to create a hanger and attach it to the back. Hang your Earth craft on display!

First off, download, print, and cut out the pieces from the Earth template. Then, ask the kids to make the Earth by gluing the green pieces to the blue circle. Glue the eyes in the middle of the globe, followed by the mouth, tongue, and teeth.

You can start by sifting flour and salt into a small mixing bowl and adding water until it has playdough-like consistency. Roll out your dough and use a piping tip or a small round lid to cut out small circles. Use the end of a straw to poke a little hole near the top of each circle.

Next, bake the dough for about an hour then let them cool. Finally, paint and decorate your little Earth necklaces then put the twine through the hole and tie the ends.

9. K Cup Earth Craft

If you’re on the lookout for something simple and entertaining for the kids, then you should try this fun-filled activity! Not only will the kids have fun showcasing their creative side, but you can also take the opportunity to teach them all about our planet. Indeed a perfect Earth Day activity, don’t you think?

The steps are very easy to follow. All you have to do is paint the entire k cup with blue paint. Apply one to two coats as needed. Let it dry. You may use a hair dryer if you want it to dry faster. Next, take your green paint and dab on the shape of the continents.

10. Layers of the Earth Craft

Teaching science to preschoolers can be quite challenging, as the terms and concepts can be complicated sometimes. However, there are plenty of fun activities and crafts that you can use to grab the children’s interests and keep them motivated. If that’s something you’re up for, then you’ll absolutely fall in love with this Layers of the Earth craft.

To craft it, simply use a compass to draw circles on the colored papers. You should have two 11 ½” blue and black circles, one 10” red circle, one 6” orange circle, and one 3 ½” yellow circle. 

Next, cut out 3-4 continent shapes on your green paper. Cut out one-fourth of the blue circle then glue the green continents onto the remaining three-fourths of the blue one.

Finally, lay the black circle down and glue the red one on top, followed by the orange, and then the yellow. Label each as the layers of the Earth and secure the blue circle on the top side using a paper fastener.
